US Online Personality Penalized After Mass Electric Bike Ride on Iconic Australian Bridge
NSW authorities have issued a fine against an US-based online influencer and served two driving violation citations for alleged negligent driving following a swarm of e-bike riders gathered on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during peak-hour traffic on a weekday.
The Incident: An Illegal Gathering
A gathering of approximately 40 individuals riding e-bikes and motorcycles proceeded along the bridge’s main deck, an area where bicycle riding is banned. The assembly subsequently reversed direction and rode through the city’s CBD and Haymarket.
"There was potential for serious injury or fatalities," stated NSW police assistant commissioner David Driver on the following day.
Police indicated they did not immediately pursue the group due to safety concerns but rather found the group at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair near the Botanic Gardens, where they dispersed.
Penalties Issued for Content Creator
On Saturday, authorities announced they had issued the American online personality who goes by the influencer, 26, with two traffic infringement notices for negligent driving (with no death or previous bodily harm), carrying a penalty of $562 and three demerit points each, in relation to the bridge incident. They added that the investigation is ongoing.
The influencer reportedly has more than 3.4 million followers on YouTube and over 1.2 million on the social media app.
Creator's Response
The online figure spoke with a major newspaper recently following the event gained traction on digital platforms, stating he was sorry for giving "bike life" a bad reputation.
"I accept the blame. It was among the safest ride-outs I’ve ever seen," he said. "I am a visitor here, and I intend to come here respecting the laws and norms of Sydney. So when I decided to do a public meeting it did not involve a ride-out, it was just to greet people under the bridge."
"I’m unfamiliar with the city, it was my fault we found ourselves on the bridge and I had a decision to make: either the group rides the full length of the bridge and turns around, which is a crime. Or we turn around, essentially, before we’re on the bridge. I chose at the time to turn around."
National Debate on E-Bike Regulation
The increase of electric bicycles on roads nationwide has sparked growing calls for regulation. A senior government official, the minister, commented that non-compliant electric bikes were a "complete hazard on the road."
"Kids have done stupid things on bikes ever since the early bicycle [but] the harm that are coming into our hospital emergency departments are absolutely devastating," he stated. "We’ve got to ensure we prevent these things entering the country [and] police are granted the authority to take strong action, to confiscate them, to crush them, to destroy them."
NSW reported over two hundred injuries related to electric bikes in the previous year. However, in the first seven months of 2025, that number surged to 233 injuries plus four deaths.
