Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community offered sympathy for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
