Almost 55,000 homes have currently been harmed by the weather, with their belongings and shelters damaged.

Heavy storms over the last seven days have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian organizations.

"Awful" Night Creates Serious Risks

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"Last night was really difficult for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the gales were so powerful," said the official.

Authorities voice grave anxiety that minors residing in tents in damp clothing will fall victim to hypothermia and other ailments.

Casualties and Significant Damage

Medical officials have stated that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in roof cave-ins triggered by the harsh conditions.

Further statements suggest a greater death toll. Authorities stated that multiple structures had collapsed completely and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces inundated.
  • Countless residents forced to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Deemed Inadequate

Agencies have stepped up deliveries of tarpaulins, bedding and clothing since the ceasefire started, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the size of the requirements is so vast that we continue to see a great number of families and minors who are really suffering every night," stated one spokesperson.

Long-Term Challenges and Ceasefire Provisions

The subsequent part of the ceasefire includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of personnel, and other provisions.

Relief groups have stressed the need for "greater and continuous aid to respond to pressing and long-term needs."

The war was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a substantial number of fatalities in the region, based on official figures.
