The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating violence and madness with equal excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show pulled in two creators whose work have represented all of those elements.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the essence of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our shared bold, daring sensibility to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
