World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She garnered almost 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
