Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Derogatory Chants Targeting Coach Wilder

The striker has signed with Sheffield United only seven months after starting insulting chants directed at their manager, Wilder.

This experienced forward, a free agent since leaving Leeds, has signed a deal with the second-tier strugglers through the winter. His seven-year spell with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting offensive chants regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion party this spring. Currently, the one-cap England player will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to pull his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past Conflict Between the Striker and the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League the previous campaign and United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

Everything appears has been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement in attack and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the next day.

Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with that. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat together and he is a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we used to dish it out and take it and that’s an integral part of football across all levels, even on Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with fitness issues in recent years.
