Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
