A funding package that would terminate the most extended federal closure in American history is heading to the House of Representatives for a decisive ballot on Wednesday.

On the sixth week of the budget deadlock, congressional members are returning to Washington to vote on whether to approve a Senate package that would support federal agencies for the next eight weeks.

GOP leaders stated assurance the budget proposal would clear the Congressional body, notwithstanding their narrow majority. But top Democrats promised to vote against it.
