Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is additionally appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
